Giving Up My Favorite Thrift Store

I love Saturdays.  I look forward to Saturdays.  Saturday is the day I visit my favorite thrift store, AV.  I am not a crazy buyer who fills a cart with any item that could be considered a bargain.  I only purchase an item that speaks to me.

For the past few weeks my trips to AV have been an unpleasant experience, so I have to consider giving it up.

The floors are strewn with clothes, toys, books and other debris.  The line to check out wraps completely around the store and interferes with browsing the aisles.  Announcements are made every few minutes pleading with customers to not permit children to run unsupervised through the store or open packages.  These announcements are ignored and the danger of running down one of the little ones with a shopping cart increases.

I consider my options.  After all, there are other thrift stores not intent on making a profit, but desire only to benefit the needy.  The prices at GW are not as appealing and the merchandise at FA not as well organized but, the treasures could be just as fulfilling.

I will miss my favorite store.
